His Majesty's Minister of Defence Empire of Thrace Thracian Army Captain
Remember the recent past. Many expectations generated the first diplomatic actions and statements Barack Obama's relationship with Mexico. Felipe Calderón was the first to be received by then President-elect. A few months later, in office, the Democrat visited this country after a direction "mea culpa" from his Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. For the first time in history Americans accepted, without restrictions, its enormous responsibility for the drug and arms trafficking. But subsequent actions did not reflect the supposed concern. The budget for the Merida Initiative was reduced, the degree of representing only what the U.S. spends a day in Iraq. In addition there was a single change in policy attention to the prevention and addictions of the American population. With regard to arms trafficking nor there was any change, just a bill of a small group of U.S. lawmakers for shutting out the marketing of weapons. Nothing more.
Yesterday Hillary Clinton returned to Mexico. Not only to give a boost to Felipe Calderón, but to agree on concrete actions which are encompassed in a diagnosis of drug use in both territories, corporate investment in security, better intelligence on money laundering and financial crimes, dismantling cartels, social investment in the Tijuana-San Diego border and Ciudad Juarez-El Paso, and the strengthening of institutions in these locations. At least this time there are commitments what to measure.
At your service Majesty
